Dr. Swaim was born and raised in Massachusetts. She graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. While at UMass, Dr. Swaim also attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Madrid, Spain. Dr. Swaim earned her medical degree with distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. While there, she was awarded the Janet Glasgow award for academic excellence and elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. After completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Houston-Hermann Hospital, she spent six years on the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. At UT, Dr. Swaim's responsibilities included patient care, education of medical students and resident physicians, administrative duties, and research.She continues to be a clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Texas Medical School, Houston. Dr. Swaim is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has presented scientific posters at the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology national meetings. Her research has been published in various peer reviewed journals including the Journal of Reproductive Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Swaim served as the President of the Houston Gynecologic and Obstetric Society for 2005. She is married, has two children, and one mutt named Tumbleweed. Dr. Swaim maintains privileges at Memorial Hermann Hospital as well as The Woman's Hospital of Texas. She sees patients at the Main Office and Pearland.
